The luxury SUV class is led by the Cadillac Escalade and Escalade ESV, Lincoln Navigator, Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon XL, with the Tahoe, Yukon, Aviator, BMW X7, Mercedes GLS and Lexus LX alongside.

It seats six passengers. The long-wheelbase models — Escalade ESV, Suburban, Yukon XL — take six large suitcases plus carry-ons; the standard-length models take about four. If your party is five or six with full luggage, ask for a long-wheelbase SUV when you book.

Book the SUV for families, for three or more business travellers together, for ski bags or golf clubs, or in winter when four-wheel drive matters on the parkways. Two child seats fit comfortably in the second row. Fares run about 35–40% above the executive sedan.
